Intelligent, Healthy and DeCarbonized: The Future of Buildings, Now
On November 8, CEOs, leaders and experts in real estate, investment, finance, retail and other industries will gather in Riga for one of the biggest real estate and investment events in the region – the Baltic Real Estate Leaders Forum (BRELF).
As every year, it will be a day of networking, new insights and ideas for business growth provided by experts and managers from around the world; among those – Kirsten Ritchie, Principal and Consulting Project Director at Gensler, champion of forward-thinking design solutions and a recognized authority in green product standards and sustainability rating systems.
Kirsten will speak about the future of buildings – from the energy required to build and manage them, to the different opportunities for energy efficiency and green buildings.
“The energy required to operate buildings, as well as to manufacture the materials used to construct them results in about 40% of the worlds annual GHG emissions,” Kirsten tells.
“While the increasing application of energy efficiency measures and green building rating systems has helped to curtail emissions growth in spite of noticeable increases in population and building area, there is still plenty of opportunity for the global real estate community to step up and reduce its overall carbon impact.”
In her presentation, Kirsten will introduce proven technologies and materials that are already in operation and are transforming buildings into intelligent, healthy and decarbonized assets for communities around the world:
“From smart glass to phone app comfort controls to building integrated energy storage to low carbon materials to 5 star rated electric only kitchens…. We will examine real world applications of these globally available technologies and products, and explore their potential to deliver a carbon balanced world in 2030 and beyond.”
Kirsten will also share exciting examples from leading Global 500 companies, such as Adobe, Salesforce, Google, Microsoft and Netflix.
